My commitment to strengthening the medicolegal death investigation system began in the wake of a deeply personal tragedy—the homicide of my father in 2004. In the immediate aftermath, his death was nearly misclassified as a suicide by an untrained and uncertified coroner, a mistake that would have denied our family the truth and prevented a proper investigation. That experience profoundly shaped my path and instilled in me a lasting mission: to ensure that no family is left without answers due to preventable failures in the system.

Since then, I have dedicated thousands of hours to advancing professional standards, improving investigative practices, and advocating for a system grounded in accuracy, accountability, and integrity.

I am running for reelection to continue building a coroner system that is professional, transparent, and sustainable—one that serves families, supports the justice system, and strengthens public health. My priorities remain clear: expanding training and certification, fostering regional collaboration, and ensuring every investigation meets nationally recognized standards. Families deserve answers they can trust, and our communities deserve a system equipped to deliver them with consistency, compassion, and expertise.
