From my early days as a young man, I found great satisfaction and gratitude in serving my community. Starting out as an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter, I knew immediately that I had to do more for the ill and injured people I responded to. As soon as I was able, I became a Paramedic and sought all the training I could to make sure that the care I provided was always at the highest level. I was blessed to have had a 34 + year career in the Fire & EMS services raising through the ranks to retire as a Lieutenant in charge of all EMS and Fire training in an 80+ member department.Somewhere during those 34+ years I was able joined the U.S. Navy Reserves as a corpsman serving with U.S.M.C. at the rank of Petty Office Second Class.

In 2004 my father and former Veit Nam era Marine was the victim of a homicide. Discovering then that the coroner system in Idaho was broken I dedicated much of my off-duty time to education and training in death investigations, committed to making a broken system better. Having attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville otherwise known as “The Body Farm” I created working relationships with top level death investigators from all over the world. I have attended the Saint Louis School of Medicine and the University of North Dakotas Medicolegal Death Investigation programs as well as many other accredited classes and conferences.

My wife, youngest daughter, and I moved to Blackfoot full time after my retirement to be close to my family who settled in Bingham County in the late 1900s. I was grateful to have been able to offer my services to the Bingham County Coroner’s Office and am Proud to have been appointed Coroner in 2022 and to be subsequently elected to the office. Since that time, I have worked tirelessly to serve the citizens and visitors of our community providing the highest level of respect, dignity, professionalism and care possible.

Once in office I set to work, became certified by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators, examined needs and assets and crafted a plan of action to improve the services we deliver to the deceased and their loved ones. Through these actions the Bingham County Coroner’s Office has earned the respect of law enforcement, mortuary services, public health agencies, and community organizations locally, regionally and even nationally.

I am committed to make certain that every decedent, their loved ones, and our community receives the highest level of care and care and dignity.

The Coroner plays an incredibly vital roll in our society by providing a unique, independent, medical, and forensic focus on each death that occurs. Our medicolegal death investigations are done without undue influence from other agencies within government, the criminal justice system, or private parties. This approach ensures the conclusions of the investigations are unbiased, thereby maintaining public trust.

The unidentifiable data obtained in thorough medicolegal death investigations is vital to our community. There are over 40 different government agencies that utilize the death investigation and death certificate information to address public health, product safety, prevention, and to craft policies that improve the health of our citizens. If a cause of death is not accurate it has significant ramifications. If a manner of death is not accurate that has significant ramifications. Education, continued training, experience, and partnerships with other forensic professionals are essential to all facets of a respected and professionally operated office.

I humbly request your vote for Bingham County Coroner so I can continue the good work.
